In Short
Accenting the upscale artsy vibe of this rejuvenated Culver city neighborhood is this eco-friendly date spot, Sony exec lunch spot and organic haven for locals. Inside, polished blond wood and stainless steel exude modern warmth and huge plate glass windows bring the outdoors in. The wraparound sidewalk patio offers tables under fragrant Jacaranda trees amid herbs and vines. Specialties include big salads made with Scarborough Farms greens, gourmet soups, sandwiches and mesquite-grilled flatiron steak and free-range chicken.
Parking

Street parking is limited during busy hours--there's a public structure around the corner on Watseka.

What to Drink

Fresh-squeezed juices, artisan sodas, micro beers on tap and boutique wines by the glass or bottle are available.

Where to Sit

The coolest seat is the cushioned banquette on the patio just outside the front door--it's shaded and off the street but still good for people-watching. A lovely rough hewn wood table with rustic benches is ideal for larger groups of eight to 10.

Build your own salad

Fresh fresh fresh. Watch as your custom salad, or one of the pre-planned menu salads, is prepared to your exact specifications. The staff is really friendly, there’s always a little bustle and fun vibe about the place. There’s a great patio with a view of downtown Culver City. This is a great lunch break, but most of the salads (like the nicoise and the steak) are filling enough for dinner or two lunches.

good healthy fud

It's like a fast food restaurant, LA style. You just walk up to the counter and select from a limited set of amazing ingredients, and then they hook you up with a great meal. Great drink selection weather you want a mint lemonade, or a begian style golden ale, this place has some great quality ingredients to choose from. I waited in line for a while, which wasn't great so that's why it wasn't an A+, but otherwise I think it's great.

Great Spinach Salad

Really enjoyed eating a full plate of baby spinach here, because it was very tasty. Let's be honest salad can be a little boring. This is definetly the place to go to get a good Spinach Salad.

The tables outside were comfy with a good view of the Culver City sidewalks. It was very crowded but the food made up for it.

I wanted cheese and beans!

When my friend Steve took me to this place I thought I was going to be eating a wheat cracker and some plain salad. Luckily I was wrong.

The food here is really fresh AND it tastes good. I had a hot plate with steak and a spinach salad. The soup was a bit boring, but it wasn't bad at all. Expect to spend about 12-14 bucks here, but it's much better than 18-22 bucks at Veggie Grill.

I've been to other Tender Greens locations, and wanted to try this one out. To be honest, unless you're super familiar with where this place is located in relation to parking, it can be a bit hairy. I suggest parking on Watseka Avenue. There is a structure just north of the corner of Watseka and Culver Blvd (Plus it's free for the first two hours).

My friend and I walked over, and there was a short line that moved very quickly. I ordered the Rocky Jr. Chicken with Cesar Salad and the Mashed Potatoes I remember loving from other locations. You order what you want at the front, then walk over to another cash register where they take your drink order and pay. As you wait to pay, I like the presentation of the fresh food that is under the glass, perhaps done puposely to let you know it's all being made as you wait.

We paid, and even though it was busy for a Friday night, we got a nice table right outside, and the weather could not be more perfect for it. I love the outdoor night-time set up with the different sized tables. Benches with pillows accompanied some which I thought was a cute touch.

The food was amazing, the portions were decent sized. And of course the mashed potatoes were silky smooth perfection. They do not have a wait staff, however busboys will come by periodically to clear your table. Must make this a habitual spot after my Friday night work out.

Good Salads, but Avoid the Tuna

If you’re looking for a place on the West Side to grab a good, hearty salad, Tender Greens is your destination. The food isn’t as cheap as, say, a fast-food joint, but it’s not gonna drain your bank account, either.

The salads are definitely the way to go here – that and the mashed potatoes that everyone this side of the 10 seems to be raving about. I thought they were pretty good, but certainly not write-home-to-mom great.

The skirt steak looked awesome, but sadly I went with the Herb Brushed Albacore Tuna instead – not a good choice, friends. The tuna was bland, and the end slice on my plate looked a little too sketchy for my taste – I left it behind.

But aside from the tuna fiasco, everything else was yummy, and I adore that they use big cubes of smoky bacon in their Cobb Salad – I could’ve eaten a plate of bacon cubes by themselves, I swear.

It’s an order at the counter sort of joint, so if you’re Joe Cool and can’t stomach the thought of not being waited on hand and foot, you should probably find somewhere else to eat.

Great Catering Menu

Tender Greens has amazing organic and healthy lunch options. Right in the heart of downtown Culver City, this local california cuisine will be just what you are looking for. They also have a great catering menu for office lunches and things of that nature.

Love big salads? This is the place for YOU!

This eatery is dedicated to using the finest ingredients sourced from local farms and the proof is in their food. I love big salads and Tender Greens has a wide variety of them. I especially enjoy their Grilled Chicken Cobb with romaine, Point Reyes blue cheese, applewood bacon, egg, avocado, tomato, and creamy dressing. With an open kitchen, watching your salad being created is a perfect way to slow down, enjoy the process of hand-crafted food, and salivate at the giant array of fresh bounty in front of you. The Roasted Roma Tomato Bread Soup with micro basil oil is one of the best and I highly recommend it.
