The Scene
A neighborhood dive for three decades, this Main Street bar has redefined itself as a destination for the single, 20-something lush. After enduring the sometimes half-block weekend wait outside, ex-fraternity boys and grown-up party girls cram into the crowded dark den where drinkers radiate from the central circular bar. The more intimate booths and bar stools fill quickly, but the best hottie-spotting--and shoulder-brushing--is done while squeezing against the red-lit walls, haphazardly decorated with old photographs. Circulating socializers eventually find enough room to groove on the dance floor.

The Draw
Swanky singles come to get down and dirty at this unabashed pick-up scene, where dancing to N.W.A. and the Beastie Boys seems secondary to making out on the dance floor. The red and black atmosphere also helps to bring out devilish tendencies, especially after downing a few strong drinks--most likely paid for by the winking cutie sitting nearby.
Look Good

Parking

Street spots are limited, but 24-hour metered parking is available in lots just down the block on Ashland and Kinney streets.

When to Go

Sunday through Thursday nights feature DJs spinning house and trance music. Other times, customers can rely on the early-'90s rap jukebox.

Circle Bar

A great place to hang out, dancing on latest hits. What I like about the Circle the most, is that you can dress casual, the late schedule in the weekends (open until 4.30). If you want to go Sky Bar the Saturday same night, count, at least, one lost hour between both places, except if you got a helicopter. I love it, always have great DJ's

It can get a little hectic on weekends, but during the week Circle Bar is a great place to relax and hang out with friends. There is a dance floor, but it really only gets busy when there's a critical mass at the place. The drinks are slightly expensive, and the bartenders aren't exactly mixologists, but the decor saves it a bit - it really is a beautiful space. Maybe a nice place for drinks post-dinner when on a date.

meh

small and loud. Sometimes a line to get in.

But it has certain things going for it. *Sometimes decent music. *Sometimes good crowd. And cheap drinks. Aside from that... meh.
