The Scene
More like a trendy San Francisco pub than a Houston hang, it exudes aggressive-yet-genuine cool. Belly up to a long bar, nuzzle against a table, nestle on a comfy couch or perch upstairs in the Pub of Love. Pierced and dreadlocked bohemians recline comfortably upon weathered sofas, while buttoned-down frat alumni take to the tables, all in peaceful coexistence.

The Draw
The 85 taps come from faraway lands and just down the road. Not only are there St. Arnold's and the usual Texas brews, there are also several from the obscure Real Ale brewery in Blanco. Try the Pale Rye Ale; it's a hoot. There's a full-bodied root beer on tap, as well as a modest but thoughtful selection of wines.
The Extras

Tuesday is singer-songwriter night, an open mike for musicians. Wednesday is Brewery Night (buy the featured beer, keep the glass). On Sundays, Texas brews are only $2.50 per pint.

Awesome

Awesome bar, huge selection of Brew, good atmosphere. If you like to just socialize with friends and throw back a few this is a definite when visiting Downtown Houston. I go because I like to people watch, and try new beers from around the world, and the out door seating along the main street side walk is ideal for such an activity.

It's my spot

The Saucer is a great spot to grab a beer before a game or just before you go out. The is just to have a couple and socialize. Great people come to the Saucer. The ring of honor is cool to 70 left.

This is a great place for downtown. Some of my coworkers and I go in there after work every now and then. I highly recommend it. Always have great food and the beer from all over the world.

Wunderbar!

Hundreds of beers from all over the world being served by attractive girls in school girl uniforms complete with short skirts. Brilliant!

This is without a doubt my favorite bar in the Houston area. If you know me then you know I have pretty much been to every bar in Houston and surrounding areas. From Laggio's in sugar land to No Tab Bar #2 in Porter. I drink everywhere.

What really gets the A+ from me is the drink specials. On Monday night is fire sale $2.75 pint night. Almost every beer on tap is on sale for $2.75. I go for beers like New Castle, Bass, Boddington's, Salvator, Spaten Oktoberfest, and Warstiener Dunkel (My favorites). This is an absoloute steal for German and English beers, the best in my opinion.

Sunday night is Texas beer night and all Texas beers are $2.75 a pint. Beers including but not limited to St. Arnold's, Shiner, Real Ale, and more. A night dedicated to the beers of the great Texas Republic? I'm sold.

This is probably not your kind of bar if you are a apple martini kind of guy, you cant decide what to drink, you dont like girls, or if you like plasma screens wrapped around your face. However if you consider yourself a beer connoisseur (like me) then this is the only bar for you in the Houston area.

After you are sure this is your "Home Bar" make sure to join the UFO club and get your membership card and T-Shirt. When you drink over 200 beers they put your name and slogan on a plate and hang it on the wall.

P.S.
Do not go to this bar and ask for bud light or miller or any generic American beer. There is a sign on the wall that says "No crap on tap". You can get "American Generics" in a bottle but you will look like a fool. They also serve liqour, bleh.

Houston's Best Place for Beer

The beer is the star of the show at this casual, laid-back roadhouse-meets-microbew-palace on Main Street. The two-level eatery is known for its extensive list of beers from around the world. If you find the choices overwhelming (and you just might), opt for a beer flight and you might just find a new favorite. The food is standard pub fare, but the sandwiches are massive and the menu perfect for grabbing a quick bite to go with your brew.
